House Clearance In South Ayrshire Case Example: Client instructions
In this case, an elderly woman called us to ask if we could clear her house for her. It had been her family home for many years but her children had long since left and her husband had died the year before, so she had decided that the four-bedroomed house in South Ayrshire was now to large for her. She was planning to sell it and to use some of the proceeds to buy a flat in a modern block which she felt would be much better suited to her needs.
She had already given some of her furniture and possessions to her children and had put various items in storage while she rented a lace as stopgap measure until she bought herself a new flat.
We were to clear out all the remaining furnishings and to tidy up the garden which had got a little out of hand since her husband had died.

We arrived bright and early having picked up the keys from our client the day before. We started on the upper floor of the house and cleared the bedrooms of all furniture, most of which was in quite good condition. We then moved on to the ground floor and removed all the remaining furniture there.
The white goods from the kitchen diner had already been removed and put in storage so that left a couple of freestanding cabinets and a dining table and six chairs.
As we worked in the house, another team tidied the garden. They pruned back shrubs, cleared paths of weeds, tidied up flower beds and mowed the lawn.
Finally, the team in the house went back through each room vacuum cleaning and tidying up so that everything was shipshape.

The client had told us that she wasn’t really interested in selling the furniture that we cleared and left it up to us to decide how to dispose of it. Although it had little value on the used market, it still had some life in it so we donated it to two local charities in South Ayrshire that we’ve worked with in the past.
There were a couple of items that were beyond use and those went to landfill. However, this meant that we’d still achieved our recycling and reusing target of 90 percent by a wide margin.
